New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said that “extreme conservatives" who oppose abortion, decry homosexuality, and support gun rights have no place in his state.
The Washington Times quoted Gov. Cuomo as saying, “Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves. Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”
You're probably familiar with the Serenity Prayer. I had to pray it several times last week as I dealt with bickering believers and infuriating news. It goes like this:
"God, give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change..."
I have to accept that I'm not in control. As much as I wish I could, I cannot put an end to evil and foolishness.
I (alone) cannot prevent new legislation that allows doctors to perform late-term abortions on the chance that a baby might endanger the mother's "mental health."
I (alone) cannot prevent the staggering increase in human trafficking and pornographic material, and the resulting psychological toll that it takes on both victims and participants.
I (alone) cannot prevent the growing divide between haves and have-nots due to crony capitalism, nor can I prevent progressives from trying to turn my nation into another failed experiment in socialism.
I have to recognize these and many other unsavory things as unavoidable realities, battlefields within the spiritual war raging around us. I certainly don't have to like it, but I have come to terms with it, and concede that the world isn't mine to direct (and it never will be). At the moment, most of this world belongs to God's adversaries (Matt. 4:8-9). The day is coming when Elohiym will take back control and set things right, but that time is not yet.
One of the things that has been difficult for me to accept is division within the Assembly of Messiah. The Adversary is doing a spectacular job of driving wedges between members of the Ekklesia, getting people to prioritize non-essential doctrines over relationships. This is nothing new, but boy have I seen a lot of it in my online communities as of late.
A couple of days ago, Gillette released a "short film" (actually a long advertisement focused on a moral message) called We Believe. It points the finger at the unhealthy ways in which men too often act towards women.
Michael Snyder and a few others with large platforms have condemned this short film for its use of the term "toxic masculinity."
Mr. Snyder and I have a lot in common. We share a love for Jesus and the Word of God, and our ministries as watchmen are very similar. Although I don't know him personally, I love him as brother in Christ, and am proud of the work he's doing. However, I have to respectfully disagree with his assessment of Gillette's film. The message that Gillette has shared is absolutely needed in a world where men regularly misuse their God-given strength and sexuality.
2018 will move us towards an Ephesians 4 reality as Abba focuses on the establishment of His true ekklesia (assembly/government) on the earth. This will be marked by genuine koinonia (unity/communion/brotherly love). We will experience shifting, sifting and shaking this year as Elohiym cuts down briars, uproots dead trees, and levels the ground so that he may lay a perfect foundation.
YHVH will increase divine order within his ekklesia, both on individual and corporate levels. In this coming season, many will be required to relocate their lives as He connects His people with the right co-laborers. The days of one-man shows are drawing to a close; the days of selfless collaboration are coming.
"God is light, and in him there is no darkness whatsoever," said the apostle John. Why, then, do Christians participate annually in a day that celebrates darkness? The Scripture tells us not to imitate what is evil, so it's time to repent if you or your family have been acting like Halloween is harmless. Instead of glorifying fear, unclean spirits, and arcane arts tonight, politely protest the "holiday" by posting a copy of the anti-Halloween sign that I created.
Sure, you could just turn off your lights and pretend to not be home, but isn't it better to take advantage of the opportunity to be a witness? You may have an audience tonight that you would never have access to otherwise. Be a light on a hill.
I ran face-first into deep discouragement a few weeks ago. A lot of things precipitated this crash, but the last straw was when a friend emailed me a link to a video by a YouTube user I'd never heard of. This YouTube personality, who is a Christian, has well over 100,000 subscribers, yet the things which he teaches are absurd. He's so far off base that he's not even in the ballpark. The production quality of his videos is decent, but not stellar, and not significantly beyond the quality of my old YouTube episodes. My current number of subscribers on YouTube: about 700. My combined monthly blog readers and podcast listeners: under 10,000.
Suddenly I couldn't do anything but lie on the floor and question all of my capabilities. I felt hopeless, pitiful, and quite frankly, angry. This went on for about an hour. But then the spirit of Adonai spoke to my spirit, and what he said disrupted my pity-party.

8 Keys to Personal Moral Excellence While LIving in Spiritual Egypt
"Y'shua told him, 'Whoever has already bathed needs only to wash his feet, and he will be completely clean'" (John 13:10).
Those who have repented and been baptized into Messiah's name have been made spiritually clean. Yet, as with the disciples' feet that Y'shua washed, the part of ourselves that contacts the earth—our fleshly or material man—must be subjected to the spirit and purified. This life-changing eBook, provided at no cost, aims to help believers live beyond reproach in a morally bankrupt world.
