As more Christians transition into what I like to call Hebrew Christianity—walking in the ways that Christ himself did—I find myself frequently addressing the topic of time-keeping, and for good reason. We need to know how to read God's stellar clock accurately in order to properly observe Yahweh's set-apart days. All of these special events fall on particular days within particular months each year. If we don't know when the months begin, or when the year begins, how can we hope to pinpoint the mo'ediym ("set-apart days")?
This blog post will teach you how to determine the start of the year as YHVH defines it (not Julius or Gregory). Being a good Elohiym (God), YHVH has given us not just one indicator, but three. And why not? It was Elohiym himself who proclaimed that "every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses" (Matt. 18:16).

You're probably familiar with the Serenity Prayer. I had to pray it several times last week as I dealt with bickering believers and infuriating news. It goes like this:
"God, give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change..." I have to accept that I'm not in control. As much as I wish I could, I cannot put an end to evil and foolishness.
I (alone) cannot prevent new legislation that allows doctors to perform late-term abortions on the chance that a baby might endanger the mother's "mental health."
I (alone) cannot prevent the staggering increase in human trafficking and pornographic material, and the resulting psychological toll that it takes on both victims and participants. I (alone) cannot prevent the growing divide between haves and have-nots due to crony capitalism, nor can I prevent progressives from trying to turn my nation into another failed experiment in socialism. I have to recognize these and many other unsavory things as unavoidable realities, battlefields within the spiritual war raging around us. I certainly don't have to like it, but I have come to terms with it, and concede that the world isn't mine to direct (and it never will be). At the moment, most of this world belongs to God's adversaries (Matt. 4:8-9). The day is coming when Elohiym will take back control and set things right, but that time is not yet. One of the things that has been difficult for me to accept is division within the Assembly of Messiah. The Adversary is doing a spectacular job of driving wedges between members of the Ekklesia, getting people to prioritize non-essential doctrines over relationships. This is nothing new, but boy have I seen a lot of it in my online communities as of late.
A couple of days ago, Gillette released a "short film" (actually a long advertisement focused on a moral message) called We Believe. It points the finger at the unhealthy ways in which men too often act towards women.
Michael Snyder and a few others with large platforms have condemned this short film for its use of the term "toxic masculinity." Mr. Snyder and I have a lot in common. We share a love for Jesus and the Word of God, and our ministries as watchmen are very similar. Although I don't know him personally, I love him as brother in Christ, and am proud of the work he's doing. However, I have to respectfully disagree with his assessment of Gillette's film. The message that Gillette has shared is absolutely needed in a world where men regularly misuse their God-given strength and sexuality.
One of the aspects of the phoenix myth as told by the Greeks is the inclusion of the palm tree. The phoenix, it is said, builds its nest among the fronds of the date palm. This association persists, as certain types of palm trees have been given the name phoenix in modern taxonomy.
In this last installment of the series of posts about the phoenix, we will make an educated guess as to why the date palm became associated with the mythical fire bird. Then we'll consider shared characteristics between the phoenix and other mythological birds. Finally, we'll take a look at two examples of phoenix symbolism as utilized by modern occultists.

To further our understanding of the mythical phoenix bird, we must look to the land of Phoenicia in Canaan, and to the flora and fauna of that region. Even though the myth of the resurrecting bird originated in Egypt, the Greeks, who affiliated with both the Egyptians and Phoenicians, married concepts from those cultures to create the phoenix myth that we know today.

A recent article at Natural News addresses a growing trend among doctors to flippantly prescribe behavior-modification drugs. Unfortunately, this trend will grow until much of the first-world population is doped with government-approved mind-altering substances. Remember Soma in the classic novel, Brave New World? That's not far-fetched. Did you know that Bible prophecy identifies widespread use of pacifying drugs as one of the features of the Last Days? One way the Enemy fights the Gospel is by keeping people from feeling their pain. Mental and physical anguish both stimulate change—by nature, we want to avoid pain. As much as we may dislike it, pain plays a very important, God-given role in our lives. If the Enemy can get us to numb our pain without debilitating side-effects, then we're less likely to repent of the lifestyle that is causing the pain. Enter psychiatric drugs. Feeling out-of-whack? Your doctor is likely to prescribe you one of the plethora of pharmaceuticals that will cover that up. Big mistake.
Until you understand the symbolism of the different beasts in John's apocalyptic vision, end-time prophecy will remain largely confusing. As a result, you could be blindsided by major events in the future. That's why it's important to carefully study prophetic symbolism today, before the prophesied events come to pass.
